Most of us think we have all the time in the world. If we can’t get to something today, there's always tomorrow. There’s a good reason for this; at the end of the day, you have to say the day is done, tomorrow is another day, which is all true. However, here’s an invitation: what if you could wake up each morning, not with a sigh, but with anticipation. I wonder what the day will bring. What can I be excited about, what could I do to surprise myself or someone else, to feel more alive? So let's talk about why this moment is your point of power.
Making the most of this moment: What if you looked at the day as a launch pad to how you want to show up in your life? We create our tomorrows by how we think today. We create our next moment by the choices we make right now.
Here’s a question: If your brain was a room, how much of that space would be occupied by the past? "I wish, I should have, I’m upset about…" Or how much of the room is clogged up by worries about the future. I love the quote by Sharon Lechter, “To worry is to pray for what you do not want!” Instead of focusing on what you don’t want, reframe your brain for what you do want to happen – then you open up to step into who you really are and to what life has waiting for you. When you catch yourself future tripping or stuck in past rumination, gently remind yourself that the key to the future is to be present to this moment. Try to use it to get out of your comfort zone. Challenge yourself to stretch into a bigger version of yourself. When that is aligned with your values, you cannot help but move forward.
Maybe you have heard the question, what would you be doing if you had no limitations? If you had all the money and the time and you knew you could not fail? Great question, but here’s an even better one. What would you do if you knew you might fail, but it was so important to you, to your expression of who you are and why you are here, that you’d want to do it anyway?
Ask yourself: What am I prioritizing? What am I grateful for? What am I noticing? This moment is the doorway. Every breath is a new start, every moment is a new moment – you can step into this right now.
